Aloha & E Komo Mai! The Garden Island Canoe Racing Association was proud to be hosting the 2010~13th Annual Na Pali Challenge. The Date was August 14 at 8:00 am Each year paddlers from the Hawaiian Islands and abroad gather on Kauai for this unique race. It is an opportunity for kane (men) & wahine (women) to come together for a race down the enchanting Na Pali Coast. Each team consists of 6 kane and 6 wahine. The two teams take turns in the canoe, making water changes every 30 minutes. The race starts in the beautiful town of Hanalei on the North Shore. With a Le-Mans start, the teams are off to make it around the Na Pali. On the way down, the teams will pass some of the most beautiful coastline in Hawaii, going past majestic cliffs, sea caves and arches. You will come around the West Side of the island with the finish at Waimea Plantation Cottages for a distance of 38 miles. All crew members are treated to an ono lunch with the awards ceremony to follow.
